Air New Zealand and South African Airways have signed a code sharing agreement.
A ban on picking up passengers in Australia, en route to New Zealand or South Africa, has been lifted.
The flights were commercially unviable, but now Air New Zealand will offer daily flights between Perth and Johannesburg, due to increased demand.
Travel between New Zealand and South Africa has increased 40% over the past five years.
