The new authorities in Libya have formally declared the liberation of their country.
Tens of thousands of people packed into Freedom Square in Benghazi where the head of the National Transitional Council Mustafa Abdul Jalil bowed down to thank God for the rebels' victory.
He urged forgiveness and reconciliation and prayed for those who died during the uprising.
Mr Jalil thanked all those who took part in the revolution in which former leader Muammar Gaddafi was ousted and eventually killed.
He said the new Libya would take Islamic law as its foundation, the BBC reports.
Mr Jalil also expressed his hope for victory for anti-government protestors in Yemen.
Meanwhile, American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has backed calls for an inquiry into the circumstances of Colonel Gaddafi's death, amid suggestions that he may have been executed.
