More bishops resign over child sex scandal

Two more Catholic bishops in Ireland have submitted their resignations in the wake of an investigation into widespread child sex abuse by priests.

That brings the number of bishops leaving their posts to four.

The latest to go, Eamonn Walsh and Raymond Field, say they hope their resignations will bring peace and reconciliation to the victims and survivors.

A report last month found church leaders in Ireland covered up the abuse of children by many priests for more than three decades.
