Many people in Britain are resorting to booby traps from the 1990 Home Alone movie to keep Christmas burglars at bay.
According to a survey of 13 million households, more than half said they will consider improvised security measures.
These included leaving radios on full volume or positioning cardboard cutouts near windows instead of installing alarms.
A total of 53% said they are considering tactics from the movie.
Up to 6% said they would consider scattering sharp objects on the floor next to the front door while 5% said they would think about setting up trip wires and ropes.
