The Samoa hotel operator, Aggie Grey's, is planning to expand across the Pacific.

It is in the process of finalising a deal to buy the Meridian Tahiti Resort in Papeete in French Polynesia, and is also looking at additional acquisitions on Bora Bora and in Fiji.

The general manager of Aggie Grey's Resort in Apia, Giovanni Rossi, says the Meridian Resort is a luxury hotel of 200 rooms.

He says the deal should be completed within days.

Radio New Zealand International reports that while the tourism sector in French Polynesia has been stagnant for years, Mr Rossi says Aggie Grey's has the skills to help turn it round.

He says Aggie Grey's hopes to provide a great experience, not only for New Zealanders and Australians, but also for people coming from America and Europe.
