The political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is proposing a senior figure in the party for the post of speaker of parliament.
Freedom and Justice Party Secretary-General Mohamed al-Katatni is supported by other leading parties.
The FJP has secured the biggest bloc in the elections so far, with the al-Nour Party next, Reuters reports.
Two deputy speaker posts would go to al-Nour and the Wafd party, one of the next biggest groups.
FJP leader Mohamed Morsi announced the deal after a meeting of the parties in Cairo on Monday.
The elections began in November and full results are yet to be announced.
Parliament gathers for its first session on January 23.
