The Help, a film set in the US civil rights era, and The Artist, a black and white silent movie, were the big winners at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday.

The Help won three awards, including best actress for Viola Davis and supporting actress for Octavia Spencer.

Best actor award went to French comedian Jean Dujardin for his role in The Artist.

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are often seen as indicators for the Oscars.
