A New Zealand-born man has been captured by the police in Australia after he escaped from a prison in New South Wales.
Mark Maukau, 23, was discovered missing from a minimum security correctional centre during a roll call on Friday afternoon.
A spokesperson for the New South Wales police says it is understood Maukau threatened an elderly couple with a screwdriver before stealing their car.
He says the police launched an extensive search and found the man hiding in bushland on Saturday afternoon.
Maukau had been in prison for armed robbery offences.
