Baghdad embassy personnel numbers to shrink

1:48 pm on 8 February 2012

The United States plans to downsize its embassy in Iraq, the largest US diplomatic mission in the world with about 16,000 personnel.

The New York Times says that number will be slashed by up to half.

The last US combat troops were pulled out of Iraq late last year.

The State Department declined to comment on specifics but confirms a wish to what "right-size" the embassy in Baghdad.
