Two more students have died as a result of a shooting at a school in the American state of Ohio.

Daniel Parmertor died soon after the shooting on Monday at Chardon High School, east of Cleveland, that has now also claimed the lives of Demetrius Hewlin and Russell King.

Police have yet to name the accused gunman but his lawyer has identified him as 17-year-old T J Lane, who attended a nearby school for troubled teens.

Authorities said he would appear on Tuesday for a hearing at Geauga County Juvenile Court.

A prosecutor says the teenager has told investigators he picked his victims at random.

The deadliest high school shooting in the United States claimed 12 students and a teacher in 1999 at Columbine High School in Colorado.

In 2007, a massacre at Virginia Tech University left 33 people dead.
