Workers at Fiji's National Provident Fund returned to their jobs today after reaching an agreement with management over job evaluations.

The general secretary of the Bank Employees union, Diwan Shankar, says NPF workers went on strike for less than 24 hours over the terms of the job evaluation.

Mr Shankar says there's been trouble over the issue for more than a year but following the strike, management agreed to their demands.

"We'll have equal representation . It'll be back dated to 1st January 2000.Whatever the evaluator comes out with. It'll be determined in a way that once the report comes out, it'll be given to both the parties, and should there be any problems, , we will discuss it . And if there's a problem it can be referred to the ministry od labour, to adjudicate."

Mr Shankar says NPF workers will not hesitate to go on strike again if any disagreements over the job evaluation can't be resolved.
