Police in the Cook Islands say they will investigate who has been supplying a group of school students with drugs.

16 students, aged between thirteen and sixteen, at Tereora College admitted to using cannabis and some of them were also found to have been using mushrooms.

Detective-Sergeant John Bataillard says they want to know who has been supplying the drugs.

"We will be looking at where these drugs actually come from and who are involved and if there people out there that are involved then definitely the police will do investigations, and if they're caught they will definitely be charged if they are involved in supplying drugs to these students."

Detective-sergeant Bataillard says the police commissioner will make the final decision on whether to charge or warn the students found using the drugs.
