PNG public servants suspended over re-fit approval process

Two senior public servants in Papua New Guinea have been suspended to allow for an investigation into a refit of a government building in Waigani.

The Post Courier reports that John Kali and Dennis Matawan were suspended two weeks ago on directions from cabinet for allegeldy failing to adhere to the approval process.

Any sum in excess of 1.5 million US dollars was to be approved by cabinet but according to a top official, Peter Tsiamalili bo records have been found to validate thsi.

The refit cost more than 3 million dollars.
