Another two Fiji chiefs jailed for illegal assembly during the Labasa army mutiny at the height of the Speight coup have been released on Compulsory Supervision Orders.
The Fiji Times reports that they are the Tui Wailevu, Ratu Rokodewala Niumataiwalu, and the Tui Nadogo, Ratu Viliame Rovabokola.
Ratu Rokodewala, who is in his 60s, said they could have been released much earlier if the Attorney General's Office had not been so busy with the Reconciliation and Unity Bill.
He said they were not treated any differently from other prisoners who were all provided with good food and bedding.
The former lands minister, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, and government senator, Ratu Josefa Dimuri, who were convicted in the same trial were released to serve their sentences extra-murally after just eleven days in prison.
