Fiji short of beds for tourists

Hundreds of tourists wanting to holiday in Fiji are being turned away.

The chief executive of the Fiji Visitors Bureau, Bill Gavoka, has told Radio Legend that over 60-thousand visitors came to Fiji in July alone, the sort of figure that was only dreamt of not too long ago.

Mr Gavoka says the demand for tourist accommodation is higher than the supply and there are potential tourists who have to be turned away because hotels are fully booked out.

He is optimistic that when a number of large new hotels currently under construction are completed in the next two years, much more accommodation will become available.
