The Department of Education in American Samoa is keeping a close eye on developments at Pavaiai Elementary School after two days of events which have disrupted lessons.
Classes are set to be held today but some parents are opting not to send their kids to school.
Reports say 10 students of level six are believed to have been possessed by spirits which had them shaking uncontrollably and not being themselves.
Two of the students described as being the most severely affected were taken to the hospital and have since gone home.
Church ministers, and village chiefs went to the school to perform a prayer service.
The students were also seen by a traditional healer.
