New Zealand, France and Niue have signed an agreement to fund a new multi-million dollar government administration block as part of reconstruction efforts following Cyclone Heta.

The agreement was signed in Wellington by Niue's High Commissioner to New Zealand, Sisilia Talagi, France's Minister for Overseas Territories, François Baroin, and the New Zealand foreign minister, Winston Peters.

France is contributing 650,000 US dollars towards the project.

Mr Peters says New Zealand and Niue have long had a special relationship, and this project is an example also of France's cooperation in the Pacific.
