Trial of eight Papuans postponed

The trial of eight Papuans on charges of alleged involvement in the ambush

and killing of two US teachers and an Indonesian on their way to Timika in

August 2002, which was to have started in Jakarta on Monday has

been postponed till mid June.

The Attorney General is reported to have been dissatisfied with the police

reports of the interrogation and was therefore not willing to proceed with

the trial until better information had been provided.
