Solomons opposition says choice of new leaders geographically unbalanced

The Solomon Islands opposition says the appointment of two MPs from the country's western block of provinces to lead the government, sends the wrong signal.

MP Edward Huniehu says with prime minister Manasseh Sogavare coming from East Choiseul and deputy prime minister Job Dudley Tausinga from North New Georgia, the government is unbalanced.

Mr Huniehu says power sharing across the country's nine provinces and 50 electorates is very important.
