Northern Marianas call centre delays opening

9:54 am on 18 July 2006

The opening of the first call centre in the Northern Marianas has been delayed again due to high telecommunications costs, according to part-owner, Erick Van der Maas.

The Marianas Variety newspaper reports that the 2 million US dollar call centre named We Manage Call Inc. was supposed to open in July, which was then rescheduled for August.

But Mr Van der Maas said last week that next months opening will not go ahead because renovations are not completed and there are still many technical issues to be resolved.

But the main reason now is that the telecommunications cost are too high.

Mr Van der Maas says the call centre will now open next January.
