Sacked Solomons Police Commissioner says sacking "a nonsense"

10:52 am on 3 January 2007

Sacked Solomon Islands Police Commissioner, Shane Castles maintains he is still the head of the Solomon's Police.

Speaking from Australia, Mr Castles says the Government's action in declaring him an 'undesirable immigrant' is a nonsense.

Mr Castles says the Government's assertion that he is a threat to security and public order was a smear campaign to destroy his credibility.

He says he was merely on annual leave as approved by the Police and National Security Minister.

The Commissioner says constitutionally he is still the Police Commissioner and what the Government did to him was a breach of contract.

Mr Castles two year contract expires in April.
