The New Zealand womens football team needs just a draw from today's final game against Papua New Guinea to advance to the FIFA womens World Cup.

Both have two wins from the three game, round robin Oceania World cup qualifying tournament being played in PNG.

New Zealand has been impressive in its attempt to play in China in September with a 6-1 win against Tonga and an 8 nil humbling of the Solomon Islands.

Papua New Guinea opened with a 6-1 win against the Solomon's but only eased past Tonga one nil in Wednesday's second game.
