Fiji's public service commission warns civil servants to report to work today

Fiji's public service commission has warned all civil servants to report to work today to ensure that they do not join a stay-away protest being organized by an anonymous website blogger known as Fijian Black.

The permanent secretary for the commission, Taina Tagicakibau, has told Radio Legend that she issued a circular yesterday warning that the PSC will not tolerate any unauthorized absence.

Ms Tagicakibau says it is business as usual in the public service and disciplinary action will be taken against those workers who stay away today.

She says civil servants should find out where this call to stay away is coming from because it is not as if there is a dispute between their unions and the government.

Ms Tagicakibau says civil servants should be apolitical and are there to serve the country.
