The Pacific Islands News Association, or PINA, has concluded its fourth biennial convention in the Solomon Islands capital of Honiara by electing a new president.

PINA members have chosen the CEO of Papua New Guinea's National Broadcasting Corporation, Joseph Ealedona, as president for the next two years.

Mr Ealedona, who is the first PINA president from PNG, takes over from Ken Clark, the CEO of Sky TV Pacific.

He says he wants to work with the new-look executive to re-unite PINA's members after the internal divisions of recent years.

"What I really want to see is all the PINA becoming the strength of all the media in the Pacific. The trends of development in the Pacific is changing, the situations in Papua New Guinea, the situation in Solomon Islands, the situation in Tonga, the situation in Fiji. there is a change in the Pacific and we in the media must always change in how we perceive things."
