SP Brewery in PNG to undergo million dollar upgrade

10:31 am on 9 August 2007

The SP Brewery in Papua New Guinea will undergo a 1-point-4 million US dollar upgrade to improve its production facilities.

The National reports the SPB general manager Stan Joyce saying the upgrade, starting this month, was necessary to meet the overwhelming demand.

The upgrade will take approximately three months from this month to October.

Production will be disrupted during the upgrading period so SPB's flagship brand SP Lager in cans only, will be brewed and packed temporarily at an HBL brewery in Vietnam.

HBL is a sister company of SP Brewery and both are part of the Asia Pacific Breweries group based in Singapore and consist of 32 breweries in 11 countries.
