Samoa's Tupua Tamasese Mea'ole national hospital is to get a CT scanner funded by the Chinese government.
The chief executive officer for medical health, Dr Stanley Dean, says the scanner is one of the latest models where patients with cancer symptoms can be x-rayed.
It is the first time the national hospital will have had access to such a machine.
Meanwhile a new group of volunteer doctors from China have arrived to work for Samoa's Ministry of Health.
Dr Dean says it's the fourth group of Chinese doctors to have worked for the ministry to help ease the ongoing doctor shortage.
