12:29 pm on 28 November 2007

The Member of Parliament for West New Georgia/Vona Vona in Solomon Islands, Peter Boyers is now the new Minister for Finance and Treasury.

The SIBC says Mr Boyers was sworn-in into the job yesterday afternoon soon after his arrival from overseas.

The Office of the Prime minister says Mr Boyers replaces Francis Zama.

Mr Zama was reshuffled to the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development.

Mr Boyers has previously been linked to the opposition grouping who claim to have the support of 26 of the 48 occupied seats in parliament.

However, the SIBC said yesteryday MPs, Stanley Sofu, Edward Huni'ehu, Steve Abana and Peter Boyers had joined the Government.

It's still unclear if Stanley Sofu, Edward Huni'ehu, Steve Abana have moved to the government's camp.
