The interim attorney general says the intentions of Fiji's Independent Commission Against Corruption, FICAC, are apparent and necessary.
Lawyers representing clients who have been charged under the commission, want to challenge the legality of FICAC.
But Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum has reiterated that the Commission is an essential part of the interim government's aim to bring about transparency and clean up corruption at all levels of society.
"There is no clandestine move there to try and y'know derogate away from the normal day to day functioning of a normal modern state. Trying to create a cleaner public service and efficient delivery of services to ordinary men and women of our country."
