Fiji interim administration official granted New Zealand visa

The permanent secretary in the Fiji Prime Minister's office, Parmesh Chand, has been granted entry by the New Zealand government.

Mr Chand told media in Fiji he was going to New Zealand to be with his wife who is undergoing medical treatment in this country.

He says he was granted a visa on compassionate and humanitarian grounds.

The government has had a policy of barring entry to those linked with Fiji's military government since last year's coup.
