Pacific Arts festival to go ahead unchanged despite budget woes

None of the activities already planned for the 10th Pacific Arts Festival in American Samoa will be scaled back despite a one million US dollar shortfall in the budget.

A festival committee co-chair Fagafaga Daniel Langkilde says the executive board has approved the final budget and presented it to the governor, who is reviewing it now.

The budget is 4.5 million dollars, with the organisers of the July festival hoping it can be supplemented by additional money from the American Samoa Government.

Fagafaga acknowledged that some countries have raised concerns about reports that the festival is facing a budget shortfall.

He says a way to cover the shortfall will be found.
