Fiji police ignore big numbers at supposedly illegal Methodist Church rally

Fiji police can't confirm reports that about 2000 people attended a Methodist Church service yesterday at Furnival Park outside Suva.

There are local media reports that 2000 people gathered at the service, despite the country's emergency regulations, which poses restrictions on meetings.

A police spokesperson says a permit was granted to the Methodist Church for that gathering.

He says one of the conditions of the permit was that the number of people to attend should not exceed three hundred.
