SPC confirms its dealings with Fiji despite suspensions from other bodies

The Director General of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Dr Jimmie Rodgers, says all the countries it deals with, including Fiji, will be treated equally.

Mr Rodgers was speaking at the inaugural Pacific Islands Sports Ministers meeting in the Cook Islands.

Mr Rodgers says despite Fiji's suspension from the Commonwealth and the Pacific Islands Forum, the SPC will still include Suva in its plans.

"The Secretariat of the Pacific Community is still a fairly important player that deals with all 22 island countries. We are technical, we are scientific, we are not a political agency therefore we still work with countries like Fiji, but we work with all the other countries."
