Federal law enforcement agencies in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas have arrested 14 people in Saipan in a month as part of the campaign against drugs and guns.

The U.S. government is aiming to get guns and drugs-and those who traffic in them off the streets of the CNMI.

United States Attorney for the Districts of Guam and CNMI Leonardo M. Rapadas said the series of arrests arose from the 18-month-long investigations conducted by the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Mr Rapadas said the United States Attorney's Office was committed to provide safe neighborhoods for the people of the CNMI.

The majority of arrests have been in connection with trafficking in "ice" or methaphetamine.
