1.35 million US dollars earmarked for CNMI needs Obama's signature

The fate of the 1-point-35 million US dollars in CNMI special projects funding requested by Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan now rests with President Barack Obama.

This comes after a report on an omnibus Fiscal Year 2010 spending bill cleared the U.S. Senate on Sunday.

Mr Sablan's request for the money to fund seven programmes and projects is contained in the report outlining a 447-billion dollar spending measure for several Cabinet departments and other agencies in the 2010 budget, including an average 2-percent wage increase for federal employees.

The measure, which would succeed a funding resolution that expires on Friday, now goes to President Obama to be signed into law.
