Tourism figures from French Polynesia show that the decline in arrival numbers continued in November, with an 8.2 percent drop over the same month in 2008.

For the first 11 months of last year, visitor numbers were just under 148,000.

Tahiti and its islands has seen a gradual and continued decline of its tourist numbers in recent years and is back at the level of the mid-1990s when France's resumption of nuclear weapons testing prompted a slump.
