The Vanuatu police commissioner, Joshua Bong, says he is planning to build eight new stations to reduce the costs of police deployment in the islands.
Last year, police intervened in several islands where there are no police stations to deal with mainly land disputes.
Currently only six of the country's 80 islands have a police station.
Commissioner Bong says the population is also increasing and it is proper to decentralise the force.
He says Vanuatu needs security to attract foreign investors.
