Tahiti Tourism boss quits

1:22 pm on 2 July 2010

The head of Tahiti Tourism, Francois Voirin, has resigned.

This was announced at the organisation's meeting at the presidency in Papeete.

Mr Voirin cited personal reasons for the move.

The territory's tourism sector has suffered a steady decline in recent years and visitor numbers are now back at a level seen in the mid-1990s when the destination was hit by riots amid the resumption of French nuclear weapons tests.
