Police in Fiji have launched a massive hunt for robbers who stole more than US$500,000 destined for the Fiji Reserve Bank.

The money , all fresh notes, was taken from a container which arrived from the United Kingdom late on Friday.

It is understood that a special vault was in the container.

The vault was securing FJ$20 notes.

Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri told the Fiji Times a special task force had been put together to track down the robbers and find the missing cash.
