Reports from Solomon Islands say several former members of parliament are yet to return government vehicles.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation says those concerned had been notified in writing that they had to relinquish the cars by the beginning of this week.

The SIBC says none of the former MPs has complied with the order.

The elections were held in early August and a new government was formed later in the month.

The SIBC says police may be engaged to retrieve the vehicles and the former MPs could face charges.

It also says a recent caucus meeting decided against buying any new vehicles for MPs and ministers.
