5-point-9 quake hits Fiji region

A five point nine magnitude earthquake hit the Fiji region this morning but there have been no reports of damage.

The US Geological Survey says the shallow undersea quake had a depth of about 10 kilometres, and was centred about 190 kilometres southwest of Wallis and Futuna.

It struck just after four o'clock this morning.

No tsunami warning has been issued.
