The Marshall Islands' Visitors Authority is worried about how a spate of thefts on yachts moored in Majuro will affect tourism.
Since around September last year there's been a number of thefts and cases of boats being trashed, and warnings are being posted on yachting websites.
The general manager of the Marshall Islands' Visitors Authority, Dolores deBrum-Kattil, says it's especially important for tourism in the outer islands, that yachties feel confident visiting.
"There's only one airline service in the Marshall Islands, the yacht industry has become our main industry for now because they're the only ones who have the access and the capability of going to the outer islands."
Dolores deBrum-Kattil says the police have recently stepped up patrols around the yacht moorings in Majuro.
