OFC says standard of Beach Soccer in Oceania is rising

Oceania Football says Tahiti's qualification for the Beach Soccer World Cup is a positive sign for the sport's development in the Pacific.

Tahiti upset three-time defending champions Solomon Islands 4-3 in Sunday's final in Papeete to book their place at September's World Cup in Italy.

Priscilla Duncan from Oceania Football says the Taki Toa's rapid improvement bodes well for the entire region.

"That's just showing that the standards are getting better in Oceania and Solomon's have gone to the last four Beach Soccer World Cups so, in terms of Oceania, it's a great thing, I think, to have another team go, for Tahiti to get experience in Italy later this year and of course they're looking ahead to the 2013 Beach Soccer World Cup, which they will host."
