The World Bank's commercial arm, the International Finance Corporation, from today is spreading the word about micro and small business lending in Vanuatu.

The IFC wants to expand access to loans, savings and insurance throughout the Pacific, particularly for women, rural households and small businesses.

The Pacific Microfinance Week will discuss global trends in micro finance and how to overcome the challenges posed.

The IFC's, Matt Garner, says the body is unique in that it can draw on its global expertise to help local microfinance institutions to strengthen their operations and help their reach into inaccessible areas.
