Vanuatu's Vaturisu Council of Chiefs, which is responsible for the traditional affairs of the people of Efate, has appointed the Eratap paramount chief, Andrew Kalpoilep, as its interim president.
He replaces chief Mantoi Kalsakau III who is reportedly overseas for medical treatment.
The Secretary General of the Vaturisu, Chief Jimmy Meameadola, says the interim president has been put in place after complaints that issues were not being discussed.
