The chief executive of Save the Children Fiji says more than 700 Nadi students affected by floods are getting a hot school lunch.
Recent severe flooding has displaced thousands of people, with more than 1,000 still in evacuation centres and another thousand estimated to be staying with friends and family.
Between 30 and 40,000 are receiving rations and Chandra Shekhar says his organisation is preparing to provide 5,000 children with a hot lunch at school.
"We also have got another NGO which is a religious orgranisation, the Hare Krishna Society, and with their help we are already now feeding 400 children from one Ratu Navula School which was submerged in water in Nadi and another 350 children from a neighbouring school, Sangam College and Sangam Primary."
Chandra Shekhar says Save the Children has also supplied more than 3,000 students with stationery packs and is in the process of procuring a further 4,000 packs.
