Nadi Chamber of Commerce says traders proving resilient after Fiji floods

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce says just a handful of businesses are expected to close their doors because of the recent devastating floods in Fiji.

The organisation says the city centre is largely back in business after a long and arduous clean up but shoppers and tourists are returning.

The Chamber's President, Dr Ram Raju, says businesses are showing remarkable resilience with about 15 shops not expected to reopen out of an estimated 300.

"But we are giving every incentive possible through tax concessions, soft loans from commercial banks and other institutions for them to perhaps reconsider and start their business again."

Dr Raju says it's mostly small to medium sized businesses closing their doors.
