About 2,700 Samoans have received healthcare services from the New Zealand Defence Force as part of Exercise Tropic Twilight, during the just completed humanitarian aid and disaster relief exercise.

Over three weeks, the 100-strong specialist healthcare contingent conducted minor surgeries, dental treatments, primary health care checks, and childhood vaccinations.

The team included doctors, anaesthetists, nurses and a range of other medical staff, as well as dentists, environmental health and logistics personnel.

Regular and Reserve Force healthcare specialists worked alongside a number of civilian medical specialists.
