Visitor arrivals to CNMI up 12 percent

Visitor arrivals to the Northern Mariana Islands in November were 12 percent higher than the same time last year.

The Marianas Visitors Authority says visitor numbers to the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota were 33,000 last month compared to 29,000 in November last year.

Arrivals from Japan reached 10,000, six percent higher than last year and arrivals from South Korea rose four percent to 12,000 visitors.

The availability of seats on flights from South Korea is projected to continue to increase in the final quarter of the year.

Arrivals from China continued a consistent double-digit increase, jumping another 38 percent in November to more than 8,000.
