HMNZS Te Mana frigate approved docking at Guam

The New Zealand Navy frigate, HMNZS Te Mana, has permission to dock at the United States navel facility in Guam.

Te Mana, which has been visiting various Asian ports, will be in Guam for activities with the US Navy.

During exercises last year near Hawaii, New Zealand vessels were stopped from docking at Pearl Harbour.

The change of position in Guam comes after the former US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced following a visit to New Zealand last year that New Zealand Navy ships would be allowed to visit US Navy facilities subject to a case-by-case waiver.
