American Samoa hospital chair slams internal ructions over new CEO

1:50 pm on 24 May 2013

The chair of the board of the LBJ Hospital in American Samoa has criticised an ongoing internal scrap over the new CEO.

Tofoitaufa Sandra King Young says the Hospital Authority Board was in the dark about the background check on Joseph Davis-Fleming requested by the hospital's Human Resources Director Anna Haggart.

Aside from traffic offences, the hospital board says Mr Davis-Fleming's background came up clean.

Tofoitaufa Sandra King Young says it exercise was entirely unnecessary, unauthorised and potentially subjects the hospital to legal liabilities.

She claims such background information is confidential and should never have been leaked to the media.
